ParaMEdic Project
Inspiring the Next Generation of Paramedics
In partnership with the College of Paramedics and other key stakeholders we designed and delivered the ParaMEdic Project for two consecutive years – a three-day immersive programme addressing the underrepresentation of diverse talent in the UK paramedic workforce.
With only 3.4% of paramedics from Black, Asian, or minority ethnic backgrounds, the project provided young people from underrepresented communities with hands-on experience, career insights and university guidance.
Programme Highlights:
- Practical Skills: Hands-on training in life-saving techniques
Career Exposure: Tours and talks with practising paramedics
University & Career Guidance: UCAS support and apprenticeship insight
Team Building: Sports, social events, and fun evening activities
Celebration: Awards ceremonies to recognise achievements
100% of participants now considering a career in the ambulance service
One year post event, 80% of survey respondents are working in the ambulance service or studying healthcare degrees
70% gained a better understanding of paramedic roles and routes
35% reported increased sense of belonging in higher education
